Photographer. Mother. Wife. Volunteer. Artist.
My husband our 2 year old son, and I moved to Central Texas in 1984. We were looking for better jobs and found them. In 1987 I had my second son while employed full-time by the State of Texas as a Computer Programmer. Back then I was “just a mom photographer”.
Both my husband and I enjoyed a a 30 year career within Information Technology. During that time while my two sons were growing up, I attended many of their soccer games. Eventually came the “empty nest” and I was ready to return to the things I first loved, the arts! Photography! Children! And animals!
Digital photography came in vogue and I bought my first DSLR camera in 2004. By 2006, I had so many people asking me for portraits that I started my first photography business. Back then it was named “Artful Photography by Marlene”.
In late 2012, my husband and I moved to Bastrop County to a newly built home. We planned it to include a residential studio. Next in January 2013, I registered my photography business as “All About You Portraits”. This is also when I spent a great deal of time in my studio honing my craft and practicing studio lighting. That spring I won two photography awards: First Place Illustrative and Judges’ Choice at Austin PPA’s annual print competition. I earned my Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) certification in 2014 from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
It was in 2016 that I learned about and joined an organization of artists helping animals, HeARTS Speak. I do pro bono work for many animal organizations through HeARTS Speak, including: Lockhart Animal Shelter, Bastrop Animal Rescue, Hardy-Hayes Rescue, and I Once Was Lost animal advocacy.
I volunteer and serve as an Ambassador at the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce.
